A Nook with a Tilted Lamp

Current level: Intern Nobody

I’m a recent college graduate who is stumbling her way around this adult world. My foot’s not quite properly in any door yet, but I do love books, so that’s what I’m going with for the moment. My true weakness is children’s literatue and YA, though I’ll often veer outside these areas. Additionally, I am a dork for art, especially comics (more alternative and indie than mainstream), movies,

Favorite television shows: Pushing Daisies, Firefly, Doctor Who, Being Human, Big Wolf on Campus, So Weird, Buffy the Vampire Slayer (which I refused to watch when I was younger but a friend has since forced on me for my own good), Kitchen Confidential, Avatar the Last Airbender, Arthur,  The Twilight Zone, Merlin

Books: This would be impossible. I love too many. You can check out my goodreads here: http://www.goodreads.com/review/list/3125494-tiltedlamp?shelf=read . Ultimate favorite authors include Diana Wynne Jones, Vivian Vande Velde, Donna Jo Napoli, Neil Gaiman, Orscon Scott Card, Sarah Rees Brennan, Oscar Wilde, Nancy Farmer, Robin McKinley, Laurie Halse Anderson, M.T. Anderson, Gail Carson Levine, Rodman Philbrick, Jerry Spinelli, Sylvia Waugh, Gloria Naylor, Shel Silverstein, Virginia Woolf, and many, many more.

Music: My father frequently informed me that I possess the musical tastes of a middle-aged gay man. That said, in addition to musicals and Disney soundtracks, I’m fond of alternative rock, some classic rock, and bits & pieces of other things.

Movies (ones that I will sit my butt down and lovingly watch whenever they come on): Back to the Future, Clue, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Arsenic and Old Lace, How to Train Your Dragon, My Fair Lady, Indiana Jones (I still haven’t seen the new one, ho-hum), most classics,

Annual family movies: The Rocky Horror Show – Halloween, A Christmas Carol & It’s a Wonderful Life – Christmas, The Ten Commandments – Passover/Easter
